It's easy to read this verse as a transaction — delight in God, and He'll hand over your wish list. But that reading misses something important about how delight actually works.
When you genuinely delight in someone — really enjoy their presence, their character, who they are — your own desires start to shift to match theirs. Spend enough time with someone you love, and you find yourself wanting what they want, caring about what they care about. That's not a loss of yourself. It's what closeness does.
David isn't offering a formula for manifesting outcomes. He's describing what happens naturally when God becomes your actual delight rather than your last resort — your desires start to realign with His. The things you want start to look more like the things He wants for you.
So the invitation today isn't "want harder so God gives you things." It's "delight in Him, and watch what happens to your wanting."
