"The Lord is my portion." It's a strange phrase to modern ears, but in a culture where land and inheritance defined your security, saying God was your portion meant something specific — He is what I actually have. Not what I hope to get. What I already possess, right now, regardless of circumstance.
That's a hard thing to say honestly when you're waiting on something — a job, a healing, a breakthrough, an answer that hasn't come yet. It's tempting to make the thing you're waiting for your portion, the thing your peace depends on. But this verse offers a different anchor: even while waiting, God Himself is already enough to stand on.
That doesn't mean the waiting doesn't hurt, or that you stop hoping for the answer. It means your peace isn't hostage to it arriving on your timeline.
Whatever you're waiting for today, let this be the anchor: He is your portion right now, this morning, before the answer comes. And because of that, you can wait for Him without falling apart in the meantime.
