Dr. Mensa Otabil opened the International Central Gospel Church's (ICGC) Greater Works convention on Day 1 with a challenge to Ghanaian believers: hold today's prophets to the same test King Nebuchadnezzar set for Daniel.
Speaking during the evening session, live from Christ Temple East under the theme "Greater Works" (#GW2026), Dr. Otabil recounted the story of Daniel 2, where the king demanded not just an interpretation of his dream but the dream itself, since he no longer remembered it. To meet that standard, Daniel had to seek God for the actual dream before he could offer its meaning — one dream, revealed twice, so that Daniel's knowledge matched the king's exactly, interpretation included.
Walking the congregation through Daniel 2:30-45, Dr. Otabil laid out the four kingdoms represented in the king's vision: gold as Babylon, silver as Persia, bronze as Greece, and iron as the Roman Empire. He then traced the prophecy's fulfilment into the New Testament, pointing to Luke 2, where Caesar Augustus is named at the start of Jesus' life, and Luke 3:1, where Tiberius is named as Caesar at the beginning of Jesus' ministry.
Dr. Otabil went on to describe the persecution the early Christian Church endured under Rome, framing it against the prophecy's ultimate promise: that the kingdoms of this world would become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.
He closed by declaring that just as the stone in Daniel's vision brought down empires, it would move that same night to pull down kingdoms and broken images at work in the lives of those gathered.
