A Ghanaian couple has shared how five years of infertility, heartbreak and unanswered prayers became the foundation of a ministry that has brought hope to thousands of families and celebrated more than 100 miracle births.
Speaking on Love Unscripted on Sunny 88.7 FM, the husband and wife reflected on their 18 year journey together, five and a half years of dating followed by 12 years of marriage, revealing that some of their greatest challenges eventually became the source of their greatest impact.
Love Tested Before Marriage
The couple disclosed that one of their first major tests came even before they got married.
A misunderstanding while they were dating, shortly after the wife had travelled to the United States, taught them an invaluable lesson about communication.
The husband admitted that he quickly realised men and women often process conversations differently.
"Communication will play a vital role in my journey," he recalled, explaining that learning patience and listening became essential to building a healthy marriage.
The lesson became even more evident just two days before their wedding when another serious disagreement threatened to overshadow their special day.
Advice from his father helped him see that patience, understanding and a willingness to truly listen would become lifelong necessities in marriage.
"The First Five Years Were Our Training Ground"
Reflecting on their marriage, the husband described the first five years as a season of preparation.
According to him, marriage requires learning your spouse before pursuing purpose together.
"The first five years were my learning curve," he explained. "I needed to understand the woman I had married."
His wife added that having shared direction and clear leadership made it easier for them to remain united despite the challenges.
She credited their ability to move together as a couple to understanding where they had come from, where they were going and the purpose God had placed before them.
Five Painful Years Without a Child
The couple revealed that the most difficult season of their marriage was their struggle with infertility.
After three years without conceiving, medical examinations revealed that the wife had Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition that can affect fertility.
Despite seeking medical help and praying fervently, pregnancy did not come.
Watching friends and colleagues start families while they remained childless became emotionally devastating.
She recalled one particularly painful moment when three of her closest friends announced pregnancies just weeks apart.
Unable to cope with the emotional weight, she withdrew from them completely, only later discovering that they had been praying for her all along.
"I Felt God Had Forgotten Me"
The wife spoke candidly about the emotional toll the experience took on her faith.
Having chosen to remain sexually pure before marriage, she admitted she struggled to understand why motherhood seemed delayed.
"I felt God didn't keep His end of the bargain," she said, describing nights filled with tears and unanswered questions.
During one of her lowest moments, her husband simply held her in his arms, comforting her as she cried.
Rather than allowing the pain to divide them, they chose to lean on each other and trust God together.
Turning Pain Into Purpose
Instead of allowing their disappointment to define them, the couple began asking how their experience could help others.
The husband proposed creating a platform where couples could openly discuss infertility, delayed childbirth and God's faithfulness.
Initially, his wife resisted. She wanted their own testimony first.
But in 2019, she reached a turning point. She stopped focusing solely on the pain and began pursuing purpose instead.
Soon afterwards, they received the news they had been praying for. She became pregnant.
With renewed hope, they launched what would become My Faith, My Womb, a ministry dedicated to encouraging couples facing infertility.
More Than 100 Miracle Babies
What began as a small support group has now grown into a thriving online community.
Today, My Faith, My Womb has a Facebook community of around 75,000 members, WhatsApp groups supporting women across different stages of their journey, and has witnessed more than 100 babies born to couples who had once struggled with infertility.
Beyond childbirth, the ministry has also become a place where members celebrate career breakthroughs, business contracts, new homes and restored hope.
The husband believes their greatest lesson can be summed up in one sentence: "Your pain is your mandate."
According to him, many people are sitting on untapped purpose while focusing only on their pain.
Why Shared Faith Matters
The couple also encouraged young people to give serious thought to shared faith before marriage.
Drawing from their own experience, they stressed that every marriage will face pressure. However, they believe couples who share common spiritual values are often better equipped to weather life's storms together.
"Marriage will be tested," the wife said. "But what makes you stand is your core faith."
