Rising gospel artist Craige Osei stopped by the Sunny 88.7 FM studio this week for a conversation on Up Close on The IM Drive (The Inspirational Morning Drive), hosted by Agyemang Oppong Peprah, opening up about his faith journey, his growing music catalogue, and the story behind his breakout single "Good Days."
Finding God for Himself
Though raised in a musical Methodist household — his father sang tenor and his mother still sings soprano in the church choir — Craige said his real turning point came later, at a prayer chapel he attended during his school years. "That's when I started living," he said. "I feel like we're all called to do something on this earth, and we never feel fulfilled until we start walking in our purpose."
He described being personally mentored in the faith at the chapel, taught simply to seek closeness with God above everything else — a season that culminated in him speaking in tongues for the first time. "I just realized he's so real, and I fell in love with him. That was it for me."
From Church Choir to Recording Artist
Music, Craige said, was always in the background growing up, largely through his parents' involvement in the church choir and his own turns at children's day performances. It wasn't until senior high school that people around him began pointing out his voice, and he started to take the gift seriously. A senior brother later introduced him to FL Studio, and he began producing his own beats.
He's since released seven songs, encouraged along the way by close family to stay true to his vision despite the many distractions competing for his attention.
The Making of "Good Days"
Craige's breakout single "Good Days" came out of a pivotal season in 2025, while he was a student balancing music with his studies at Regional Maritime University. Struggling to manage both, he committed to a seven-day prayer camp that January, stepping away from his phone to focus solely on seeking God.
"I just prayed, and He assured me it was going to be fine," Craige recalled. "He told me I was going to know how to do this thing, that I'd actually been guided all along — just to put my trust in Him and keep declaring that good days are coming." That declaration became the seed for the song.
Staying Grounded Through Doubt
Asked whether he'd ever questioned his path, Craige was candid about a season where he felt broken and directionless — caught between his music, his studies, and pressure to stay focused on school. That struggle led to another song he described as co-written with God Himself. "The first verse is actually God talking to me," he said. "It was my cry to God, but I didn't write it — He wrote it on that song." He said he still returns to that song whenever doubt creeps back in.
Balancing Music with a Tech Career
Beyond music, Craige recently completed an IT degree at Regional Maritime University and is currently awaiting his National Service posting. He's also begun a new project called "Control Room." For now, he said, he's intentional about balancing both paths. "I think a time will come where we can actually do it full time. But for now, I have to keep supporting and balancing everything."
A Message to Listeners
Closing out the conversation, Craige encouraged listeners to give his music a chance. "Every single thing we bring out is actually from God, and it's going to help you too — because I feel like the fact that it spoke to me, it can actually speak to you," he said.
