Woman Shares How Leaving a Relationship with a Married Man Led Her to God's Best

Accra, Ghana – A Christian woman has shared a deeply personal testimony of how choosing to end a relationship with a married man became the turning point that transformed her faith, restored her peace, and ultimately led her to a fulfilling marriage.

Speaking on Sunny 88.7 FM, Angela (first name only) recounted how her journey from heartbreak and emotional dependence to spiritual healing convinced her that genuine transformation begins with a personal relationship with God.

"I Wanted My Marriage to Be Different"

Angela said witnessing the painful marriage of her late mother initially made her fearful of relationships.

However, instead of allowing those experiences to define her future, she became determined to build a marriage founded on peace, love and God's principles.

"I told God that if I was ever going to get married, I wanted my marriage to be different. I love peace of mind, and I wasn't prepared to settle for anything less," she said.

She explained that her mother's unwavering faith despite enduring marital challenges became one of her greatest inspirations.

Losing Her Mother Drew Her Closer to God

Angela revealed that after her mother's death, she realised she could no longer rely on someone else's prayers.

The experience pushed her into developing her own relationship with God.

"I realised if I didn't learn to pray and intercede for myself, I would be in trouble. That was the beginning of my journey of seeking God sincerely," she said.

According to her, as she pursued God more deeply, He began renewing her thinking and bringing emotional healing.

Trapped in a Relationship with a Married Man

Angela openly admitted that following her mother's death, she became emotionally attached to a married family friend who had initially supported and comforted her through her grief.

The relationship eventually became serious, with the man proposing to make her his second wife.

Looking back, she said the relationship gradually changed her heart in ways that frightened her.

"I reached the point where I became upset whenever his wife called him. I even found myself wishing she would die so I could have him to myself. That was my wake-up call," she confessed.

She warned that emotional attachment can cloud judgment, making it extremely difficult to walk away without God's help.

"Pray Your Way Out"

Angela said ending the relationship was one of the hardest decisions she had ever made.

Unable to break free through willpower alone, she spent months praying and crying before God for strength.

"I kept praying, 'Lord, I don't want to destroy another woman's home. Give me my own husband. I want to serve You faithfully,'" she recalled.

Eventually, she found the courage to end the relationship despite the emotional pain and the comfortable lifestyle it had provided.

God Had Something Better

Not long after ending the relationship, Angela met the man who would later become her husband.

She explained that their friendship grew naturally as they encouraged one another spiritually before eventually realising they were God's answer to each other's prayers.

"God always has something better for us. If I had stayed in that relationship, I would have missed what He had prepared for me," she said.

Today, she says her husband continually asks where she would like them to travel next, describing their marriage as one filled with joy, friendship and God's blessings.

Five Years Later...

One of the most emotional moments in her testimony came five years after the breakup when she called her former partner to explain why she had left.

After hearing her reasons, the man thanked her.

According to Angela, he admitted he had nearly destroyed his own family despite having a good wife.

"He told me, 'God bless you for walking away from my life.' He said I had actually saved his marriage," she recounted.

A Message to Singles

Angela encouraged single Christians not to allow pressure from family, age or society to push them into unhealthy relationships.

Instead, she urged them to focus first on building their relationship with Christ.

"Seek God first. Don't settle because you're afraid of being alone. Whatever you think you're getting from the wrong relationship, God is able to give you something far better," she advised.

She also urged believers to combine prayer with practical action by setting healthy boundaries and having the courage to walk away from relationships they know are not God's best for them.
